Being Suspects of Persecution of Medan Students, PDIP Cadres Only Have to Report

Police did not detain the Deputy Superintendent of the Cakra Buana Task Force PDIP North Sumatra has the initials HSM (43). The man who is suspected of kicking, beating and slapping FAL (17), an Al-Azhar High School student, is only required to report.

“It is true that the suspect was not detained because the threat of imprisonment is under 5 years. So the suspect is only obliged to report once a week,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Medan Police, Kompol Muhammad Firdaus, Saturday (12/25).

In this case, HSM allegedly hit a motorbike, kicked, beat and slapped FAL (17) Al-Azhar High School student at the mini market Jalan Pintu Air IV, Kwala Bekala Village, Medan Johor District, Medan City.

The incident started when the FAL victim was shopping at a mini market. Then the suspect HSM came driving a Land Cruiser Prado. At that time, the suspect’s car hit the back of the victim’s motorbike which was parked there.

“The victim saw that his vehicle was hit by the suspect’s car. Then the victim came out of the minimarket and asked the suspect to move the car aside. Because the suspect’s car was blocking the victim’s motorbike and the victim wanted to get out,” said Medan Police Chief, Kombes Pol Riko Sunarko.

However, the suspect was hurt by the victim’s words. The suspect accused the victim of being rude. That’s why the suspect assaulted the victim. The incident was caught on CCTV camera. Then it went viral on social media. The victim’s family then made a report to the Medan Police.

The HSM suspect was arrested while hanging out with his friend at a cafe in Medan Johor District. The suspect could not move and was immediately taken to the Medan Police Headquarters.

He was charged with Article 80 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 76 C of UURI Number 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to UURI Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. The minimum sentence is 3 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of IDR 72 million.
