IFK Norrköping suffered double stoppages against Gais. In the first half, both versatile Icelander Ari Skulason and centre-back Anton Eriksson were forced out with injuries. Both took the back of the thigh in connection with leaving the field.
– It could be that you have trained a little too hard. There is a common thread in this, why it happens. You have to be careful with the amount of exercise. I know it’s the pre-season, but you have to do it at the right time and not too close to the match, says C More expert Astrit Ajdarevic.
Jacob Ortmark and Isak Ssewankambo replaced the injured duo.
The match then?
Arnor Traustason gave Beijing the lead a few minutes before the break with a cannon finish just outside the penalty area.
– Great finish, said Ajdarevic.
The score was 1-0 at the break. Just before half-time, a fight broke out in which, among others, Jacob Ortmark and Joackim Åberg were involved.
– It’s the first competition match. The pulse is high and I like it. It hits both ways, Arnor Traustason told C More during the break.
About the goal he said:
– I got a pretty good time and put it in the far end.
In the second half, and especially in the closing minutes, Gais pushed for an equalizing goal. The green and black called for penalties both once and twice, but referee Mohammed Al-Hakim acquitted.
In the end, IFK Norrköping was able to ride out the storm and win the match with the odd goal.
Other teams in the group are IFK Gothenburg and Utsiken. They meet tomorrow, Monday.
IFK Norrköping will face Utsiken next, while Gais will host IFK Gothenburg in the next group round.
