China said on Tuesday that two satellites of SpaceX, a company of Ylon Mask, were approaching dangerously close to China’s Tiangong space station.
China’s foreign ministry has blamed the United States for failing to conduct its activities in space responsibly and said it has filed a formal complaint with the UN.
Tiangong had to change course quickly in July and October as SpaceX satellites were on their way to a collision with a space station, a ministry spokesman said.
He said the US needed to take immediate action to prevent a recurrence and protect the lives of those in orbit.
According to the ministry, the electric car manufacturer Tesla, founded by SpaceX and Maska, has been criticized by Chinese social media users, many of whom have called for a boycott of Tesla.
The first module of China’s new space station, Tianhe (Heavenly Harmony), was delivered to space in April, and the construction of the entire Tiangong (Heavenly Palace) station is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
