KOMPAS. com – Beijing, China should face peak of Covid-19 cases serious for the next two weeks.
This was revealed by a respiratory expert in China, amid concerns about possible mutations of the Covid-19.
Reported by Al Jazeerathe easing of restrictions across China coincided with a spike in infections that experts say could accelerate over the winter.
Some projections suggest that China could face more than a million deaths in the next year.
“We need to act quickly and prepare resources for emergency and serious care,” said Wang Guangfa, a respiratory disease expert at Beijing University Hospital.

Expandable bed in intensive care
Wang said the hospital should expand ICU beds as a priority.
It is estimated that the peak of Covid-19 will probably last until the end of the Chinese Spring Festival, which will fall on January 22, 2023.
He added, Covid-19 cases would then decrease and life would gradually return to normal in late February and early March 2023.

This prompted WHO emergencies chief Ryan to urge China to provide more information on the latest outbreak of the virus.
