Beijing 2022 – Freestyle skiing: Switzerland 4th in mixed Aerials, triumph over the United States

Switzerland finished 4th in the mixed Aerials competition. Victory went to the United States ahead of China and Canada.

Alexandra Bär, Pirmin Werner and Noé Roth missed bronze by around fifteen points. But the two boys attempted jumps of extreme difficulty. The task of Switzerland was announced more difficult because of the absence of the titular Carol Bouvard, injured with a knee.

In the final, Alexandra Bär collected only 57.01 points, 8 points less than during her previous passage. Same thing for Pirmin Werner who scored 128 points in the first part of the final, but had to settle for 109 for his last run.

No doubt that with better execution and better landings, Switzerland could have considered bronze, in particular because of the poor passage of Quebecer Marion Thenault.

The United States clinched gold after China’s Jia Zongyang failed to land and Christopher Lillis soared with 135 points on his jump, similar to that of Pirmin Werner.
