JAKARTA – Mitsubishi New Xpander Cross has an outward appearance that is not too fancy like its sibling, the Mitsubishi New Xpander. Though many things are new in the car.
This comparison is actually reasonable considering that the Mitsubishi New Xpander and Mitsubishi New Xpander Cross are cars that share a platform. The difference is just the functionality where the older brother, New Xpander targets the Low MPV segment while his younger brother, New Xpander Cross has a fight in the market. Low SUV .
Because of one platform, it is natural that many people expect a radical change from the exterior side of the Mitsubishi New Xpander Cross as happened in the Mitsubishi New Xpander. It’s just that there are no major changes between the previous generation Xpander Cross and the new generation Xpander Cross.
Guntur Harling, General Manager and Product Strategy Division of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) said the New Xpander Cross maintains the old exterior design because it already meets the requirements of a tough Low SUV. According to him, the grille design and large tire housing are very typical of an SUV. “So the impression of the SUV is maintained,” he explained.

It just doesn’t mean that the Mitsubishi New Xpander Cross doesn’t have many interesting changes. Guntur Harling said the biggest changes were in the interior and the use of a new CVT transmission as was the case with the Mitsubishi New Xpander.
On the interior side, the New Xpander Cross is indeed much different from the old Xpander Cross. The most visible is the steering bar which is now much thicker and is claimed to be similar to the Mitsubishi Evolution steering bar. It should be noted that the same steering bar is also in the highest variant of the Mitsubishi New Xpander Ultimate.
In addition, there is also a 9-inch touch screen that is connected to Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The installation of digital air conditioners also makes the cabin atmosphere of Mitsubishi’s flagship Low SUV look more sophisticated.
