Renze was taken off the air overnight with his BNNVARA talk show Eve. In conversation with podcast maker Nikki van der Heijden, he looks back on his dismissal. “At that moment it was completely shitty. (…) You have no input at all and something has been decided for you. Of course you feel completely screwed at that moment.” That is why he comes to the conclusion that in terms of work he can ‘never trust people one hundred percent’. “For a man will always act in his own interest.”
To protect himself against disappointment in the future, Renze now has a different attitude. “I always think: it can stop again tomorrow. Guarantee to the front door. (…) In that sense you build in a kind of shield. That you never count on it too much.”
Fidan and Renze already had two seasons of it Of Eve and in June 2021 were under the assumption that they would make a third season after a short holiday. However, the two were told shortly before the new season that the program did not meet expectations and therefore had to be overhauled.
