Guntar’s daily duties consist of making sure that everyone and everywhere arrives on time, that everything happens according to plan. The representatives of Eurovision communicate with him about all the organizational matters of the contest – starting from the logistics of the delegation and ending with the performance reaching the TV screens.
Preparation for Eurovision starts as soon as the “Supernova” final is over. When it was found out that the group “Sudden Lights” will go to represent Latvia, a meeting with the group’s representatives was organized immediately after the domestic selection at midnight. This marks the beginning of almost four months of work to Liverpool.
Eurovision itself is also preparing for next year in time. For example, on Saturday, May 13, the winning country will be determined in Liverpool, and the next day, planning for next year’s competition will begin.
There are a lot of nuances that must be prepared and when by the member states – promo pictures, audio tracks, descriptions of the participant, costumes, performances and other descriptions must be submitted so that Eurovision can work smoothly on the organization.
“This year, Eurovision is organized at a very high professional level, because it is made by the British,” emphasizes the head of the delegation.
“Sudden Lights” group is easy to work with, Guntar admits. You could already feel it from the days of “Supernova”. They clearly know what they want to say. They have a purpose to showcase their music and message. In behind-the-scenes life, the group likes to joke, they don’t stay late, someone likes to sleep longer and the group has good self-irony, which is very important, adds the head of the delegation.
