‘Valleytan’ was a 2000 film directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Ranjith. Mammootty, Shobhana, Sai Kumar, N.F. Varghese, Siddique and Manoj K. Jayan were the main stars in this. The film was a commercial success and became the third highest grossing Malayalam film of 2000. Now the producer Baiju Ambalakara is telling how Ranjith wrote the screenplay of ‘Valleytan’ movie. He was speaking in an interview with Master Bin.
‘Narasimham starring Mohanlal along with Shaji Kailas and Ranjith was a big hit. After that we decided to do the film together with Mammootty as the lead, which we had planned to do earlier. Everything was done quickly to make the film as soon as possible.
So Ranjith started writing the story for this film. Even after writing the first, second and third subjects, Ranjith was not satisfied with it. Ranjith must have felt that those stories were not true for some reason.
The story of the next film should be written at a time when Aaram Tampuran and Narasimha are huge hits. That movie also has Mammooka as the hero. For him, this movie should also be a hit. Ranjith had done a lot of hard work for it. But he did not get a good subject. He tore up everything he wrote.
Meanwhile, Shaji knows my house very well. Not only Shaji but also Sai Kumar knew. I have an elder brother. Even though he was a businessman, he was a character who would do anything for the sake of partying while going to college. He is a special character. This is something Shaji knows.
Shaji tells Ranjith that he will give a subject. Shaji said about my elder brother. Our story was told in just one line. Such a small thread is not enough for the movie.
