Begoña Gómez files complaint against judge for prevarication

Madrid. Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Spanish Prime Minister, the socialist Pedro Sánchez, decided to go on the offensive and file a complaint for prevarication and disclosure of secrets against Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, of the High Court of Madrid and the person responsible for the investigation of the case against her for the alleged crimes of corruption in business and influence peddling.

Just as the President of the Government did, who decided to order the State Attorney’s Office to file a complaint for prevarication against Judge Peinado, now Begoña Gómez, through his lawyer, the former socialist Minister of the Interior, Antonio Camacho, also filed a similar complaint, in which the magistrate is also accused of carrying out a “perverse and prospective instruction, totally prohibited” against her, in addition to having revealed key details of the case when they were under summary secrecy, including her first recorded statement.

In the case of Gómez’s complaint against Judge Peinado, the lawyer justifies the complaint in which a “general case was brought against his client in an unusual, erratic and prospective manner”, in addition to accusing the judge of having made judicial instructions that were “manifestly unfair, unjustified and without legal support”, which would be precisely what would justify the complaint for prevarication, which if successful and successful could mean the judge’s expulsion from the judicial career.

The case against Begoña Gómez was initiated by separate complaints from the union and the far-right association Manos y Limpias and Hazte Oír, which were based on several publications in the media in which the alleged meetings at the Moncloa Palace of the person under investigation with businessmen and representatives of the public university in Madrid were denounced, which later bore fruit for the benefit of her professional activity. A large part of the complaint is based on these journalistic reports, which also contrast with the conclusions adverse to this theory of the Special Unit of the Civil Guard and of the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office itself, which proposed to file the complaint and, despite everything, the judge decided to go ahead.

This stubbornness is also the basis of the complaint against the judge of the State Attorney’s Office, in this case representing Pedro Sánchez, who argues, among other things, that the rights of the institution he represents have been violated.
