Beglov offered to finance the celebration of the day of the employee of the penal system from the budget of St. Petersburg

The Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, introduced an initiative to the legislative assembly, if adopted, March 12 will be declared in the city as the day of the employee of the penal system. This is evidenced by document on the ZakSa website.

According to the cover letter, the governor notes the importance of the system of the Federal Penitentiary Service of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region and believes that all events timed to date should be financed from the city budget.

Opposition MPs in parliament are already outraged by this initiative. For example, the leader of the Yabloko faction, Boris Vishnevsky, in a conversation with Kommersant, noted that there would be an “interesting discussion” on this initiative.

Note that at the federal level, the celebration of the day of the employee of the penal system on March 12 was approved in November 2010 by decree President Dmitry Medvedev.
