1. Japan’s core inflation hit a new high in November: Japanese inflation data rose to 3.8% and core inflation hit a 40-year high, rising to 3.7%. As companies continue to pass rising costs on to households, Japanese inflation continues to hit new highs, with processed foods rising the most, durable goods such as electricity prices and air conditioners also rise and prices of gasoline show a slow increase due to subsidy policies.
2. Boeing resumes 777X flight tests: Boeing’s 777X jet, also known as the 777-9, is a larger version of the 777 wide-body jet, which resumed flight tests after inspections in October detected engine problems.
3. TSMC intends to build Europe’s first chip factory in Germany: According to sources, TSMC is again in discussions with major suppliers and intends to build Europe’s first chip factory in Dresden, Germany. This move will help TSMC meet the needs of semiconductor demand in the automotive industry. Furthermore, the sources also said that TSMC plans to send a senior executive to Germany early next year to discuss the extent of government support for the chip factory and the ability of the local supply chain to meet its demand.
