The appearance of Sheikh Yasser Al-Saleh, in the condolences of the late Wadih George Wassouf, has raised a state of controversy, after he had recited the Koran, at the request of the great artist George Wassouf, who appeared moved while listening to the recitation.
With the controversy mounting, artist George Wassouf converted to Islam, after an 8-year chase asking him about his religion.
Artist George Wassouf said during his 2014 appearance on the program “Say Ya Malak” with journalist Nishan, “My wife is Um Wadih, a Sunni Muslim.”
In response to his request to present Christian hymns, the great artist said: “I know the call to prayer and memorize the names of God.”
The artist, George Wassouf, is expected to receive condolences today, Tuesday, for his late son Wadih, and next Saturday, January 14, in the hall of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas (Mar Nicholas) Ashrafieh, starting from twelve in the afternoon to six in the evening.
