Before entering winter … a very distinctive need between the Corona virus and influenza

Many are concerned about the risk of infection with influenza viruses with the advent of next winter, especially since the Corona virus has not been controlled and completely eliminated, as the number of infections has decreased, but they are still present.

The difference between corona and influenza

A recent study revealed the difference between infection with the Coronavirus, scientifically known as the Covid-19 virus, and infection with different cold viruses.

The cold virus and the Coronavirus share a number of symptoms such as sudden fever, body aches, feeling tired or exhausted, dry cough, sore throat and headache.

Among the common symptoms are difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, diarrhea or abdominal pain, so many patients find it difficult to differentiate between Corona symptoms and normal flu symptoms.

Arnold Monto, an epidemiologist at the College of Public Health at the University of Michigan, USA, believes that the distinguishing thing in differentiating between infection between the Corona virus and the regular influenza viruses is the loss of the sense of smell and taste that accompanies a Corona patient.

Monto told The Washington Post, that the thing distinct so far about Corona is the loss of the sense of taste and smell.

Express, revealed that a small study had been conducted that gave smell and taste tests to 30 people – 10 who had been diagnosed with Coronavirus COVID-19, 10 had colds, and 10 worked as a health control group.

It is possible for the patient to test himself by inhaling products such as coffee or oranges to see the movement of his smell and taste.

Severe difficulty breathing is a characteristic symptom of the Corona virus from infection with influenza, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms that difficulty breathing is one of only two symptoms that do not usually share with influenza and the other symptom is loss of taste and smell.

Scientists have advised those who suffer from a severe high temperature, a new persistent cough, or a loss or change in the sense of smell or taste, to conduct a test to detect the Corona virus.
