“In making the most complete reconstruction of the Anteosaurus skull to date, we found that overall, Anteosaurus nervous system was optimized and specialized for fast hunting, unlike previously believed., “said Ashley Kruger, paleontologist, as quoted by CNET, Friday (5/3/2021).
Kruger is a co-author of a paper on Anteosaurs that was published online last month in the journal Acta Palaeontologica Polonica.
The study shows how computer reconstructions can change the insights known to humans about long-extinct animals.
The team of scientists involved in the study believe that although Anteosaurus lived 200 million years before the famous dinosaur Tyrannosaurus rex, Anteosaurus was not a primitive creature nor was it inferior to a mighty prehistoric killer.
