Trainer Mario Kogler: “There has to be more.”

Mediocre? Not an option for Cory Conacher. Dream big is his motto. He writes it as a dedication on his autograph cards. And so the Canadian spoke of the championship title when he returned to SCB from Lausanne in mid-February. «I know the demands. For Bern, the title must be the goal, ”said the 31-year-old. But the dream could already burst today. Also because of the master hero from 2016.

Conacher stood for Bern’s upswing. Hardly there, the SCB won the cup. In the championship, the Bernese brought in more victories than defeats. With 1.16 points per game, the nimble wing is the most productive SCB player of the season and also made his teammates better with his bite and speed. First and foremost top scorer Dustin Jeffrey, who didn’t get going for a long time, but really blossomed at Conacher’s side. But in the end the actual parade formation with Jesper Olofsson disappeared.

While the Swede managed to score the winning goal in the first pre-playoff duel against Davos after a buck in the HCD defense, Conacher and Jeffrey were once again pale. Conacher has been waiting for a goal for seven games. Jeffrey hasn’t scored in five games. “There has to be more, including from foreigners,” says coach Mario Kogler. “They have to find a way to get the goals they are expected to get.”
–
If the foreigners cannot find the goal in the “Baby” belle in Davos today, the season for Bern could be over.
