Bargteheide – highlight plays, good atmosphere thanks to around 50 spectators in the hall and at the end a clear home win: TSV Bargteheide Bees also won their second home game in the 2nd Regionalliga Nord and were able to celebrate. Top scorer in the 90:71 (44:37) win against Holstein Hoppers was Steffen Hönicke with 33 points.

Both teams had to do without some regular staff. At Bargteheide it was mainly the two development players Lukas Fleischhauer and Felix Geyer (both private reasons), the guests from Halstenberg / Pinneberg could only compete in eight.

The Bees started well and immediately pulled away, while the Hoppers had problems with the home side’s strong defense (20: 8, 9th minute). That was especially true for their top scorer Levi Levine, who was put on the chain by Patrick Thelen – as well as that is possible with the experienced American.

But again and again slight mistakes crept in with the Bargteheidern, which were used directly by the Hoppers and which kept the game open. Shortly before half-time the score was 38:37 (20th), but thanks to two three-pointers, the Bees were able to break away easily. The highlight of the game was Hönicke’s buzzerbeater from a good eight meters to 44:37.

The third quarter presented a very similar picture: First the Bees had a lead, then the Hoppers came back. Led by their 54-year-old player-coach Dean Jenko (24 points), the guests even took the lead for the first time in the 29th minute (61:62). But the Bargteheider could not be disturbed and thanks to a 6-0 run they went back to the front (67:62, 30th).

This was followed by an offensive explosion: Vincent Beckmann found his touch and marked twelve of his total of 24 points in the final quarter, and defended even more intensely in his own half. In particular, Thelen’s defense stood out.

Said Ghalamkarizadeh (trainer TSV Bargteheide Bees): “That was a really great team success for us, we implemented our game plan well. Everyone has put themselves at the service of the team, we defended strongly as a team and offensively found the hot players. “

With a 2-1 record, the Bees improve to fifth – but most teams have already played four or even five games. At the top of the table are the still unbeaten Itzehoe Eagles II (4-0), who narrowly won the top game against Weser Baskets Bremen (2-1). The Hoppers now fall back to eighth place with 2-3. Overall, it is becoming increasingly clear that anyone can beat anyone.

A difficult away game is on Saturday for Bargteheide. Then it’s off to the Weser Baskets (Tip-off: 4.45 p.m.). Bremen won their first two games clearly (72:39 in Harksheide, 98:60 against Kronshagen), but had to admit defeat like the Bees in Itzehoe (69:71).
