The Home Front Command this evening updates emergency preparedness instructions and the list of equipment that is important to prepare for an emergency and how to store it. The IDF spokesman emphasizes this evening that there is no change in the instructions for the residents. The Home Front Command’s announcement updates and refreshes the preparations that many families in the Negev and the North are practicing anyway. The instructions of the Home Front Command are clear and do not include unusual equipment. This is equipment that is desirable to have at home even on normal days.

”Just as we prepare for everything in life, it is important that we are also prepared for emergency situations. And in an emergency we may be asked to shut ourselves in the protected space for a certain period of time or, in certain cases, to evacuate the house. Therefore, it is important to prepare in advance the necessary equipment that will help us and the members of our household deal with the emergency situation.”

The list was compiled after a discussion with all the relevant government ministries and was approved by M. Feka’ar, Rabbi Rahal and the CEOs of the government ministries – this list includes water and food according to the needs of the household and may change from one to the next.

The IDF spokesman emphasizes this evening that there is no change in the instructions for the residents. The announcement from the Home Front Command updates and refreshes the preparation that many families in the Negev and the North are already practicing

Required emergency equipment:
Water and food for all members of the household, for at least three days
emergency lighting
Flashlight and batteries
First Aid Kit
Medicines and printed prescriptions
Radio and batteries
Mobile chargers for the mobile phone
Special food according to the needs of the family (babies, elderly, animals, etc.)

Important highlights in preparing emergency equipment
It is recommended to store the equipment in a bag, which we can take with us when needed. It is recommended to first of all provide a response to essential needs – water, food, medicine and means of communication.
Items that are important to remain dry, such as documents and clothing, should be placed in sealed plastic bags.
It is important to take into account the additional equipment we will need if we are asked to stay for a long time in the protected area or evacuate the house. Please note: it is important to adapt the list to the unique characteristics of the members of the household and their needs.
It is recommended to involve the members of the household in compiling the list of emergency equipment, show them the contents of the bag and its storage location, make sure that everyone knows how to use the items in it.
If there is an emergency room, the emergency equipment should already be stored in it. If there is equipment that needs to be refrigerated or stored elsewhere, it is important to indicate this to the members of the household and on the bag.
It is important to carry out regular maintenance for the equipment:
– Change the water bottles and check the food supply and check every three months.
– Check the condition of the batteries and other electronic means once every six months.
– A person can be appointed responsible for performing periodic inspections and ongoing maintenance of the file.

Additional highlights
Those who do not have bottled water, can use tap water in the absence of any other instructions. If the water is not refrigerated, make sure to refresh the water every 3 days.
For those who require medical equipment – it is important to make sure that it is possible to operate the medical equipment using batteries and that they have backup batteries and/or means of charging.
It is necessary to verify the integrity of the gas containers and check their capacity – in private houses, it is important to make sure that the spare gas tank is full. In shared buildings, make sure that the storage tank is more than half full.
It is important to pay attention to those around us. Help the elderly, people with disabilities and anyone who needs assistance near you. Equipment can be added depending on the nature of the disability.
