LOGROO, 11 (EUROPA PRESS)
Yesterday at 7:30 p.m. on the banks of the Ebro, the achievements captain, Esteban Rodrigo, kicked off the Beer Runners race together with Dani Quintero, the national coordinator of the movement.
It can be said that this Thursday the authentic orange tide returned to Logroo with more than 30 runners, and that after the race the best reward was enjoyed: a beer with tapas. And the fact is that the Beer Runners recipe for sport+leisure+beer is perfect, and the atmosphere in the city was once again unique and very fun.
“Beer Runners was born in Spain 10 years ago to promote sport in the same way that we enjoy moderate beer consumption: in company. Since then, we have organized gatherings throughout the national territory in which runners of all kinds, professionals or novices, of any age”, says the national coordinator, Dani Quintero.
The Beer Runners spirit has already spread throughout Spain thanks to the 53 local groups that organize their weekly gatherings through social networks. They go for a run every week, and after the exercise they enjoy a few beers and some tapas as the best reward. “The Beer Runners movement has managed to encourage and unite all kinds of people to follow an active lifestyle, looking to “break the routine” with a beer and a tapa as a reward after a race. We couldn’t be more excited to have been able to enjoy it again on the streets of Logroo”, confesses the captain of achievements, Esteban Rodrigo.
The local captains are in charge of calling the meetings, managing the group on social networks and encouraging runners to share these moments in good company.
“Beer is made up of 94 percent water, which makes it an option, after water, to replenish fluids after intense training and restore the body’s water balance,” said the national coordinator. In addition, it is rich in minerals such as calcium, chlorine, phosphorus, iodine, magnesium, potassium, selenium and sodium, which contribute to the body’s electrolyte balance.
Drinking a moderate amount of beer after physical exercise can be beneficial because it promotes rapid and effective rehydration as well as helping to prevent muscle pain such as stiffnessii. In fact, several medical studies have shown that moderate beer consumption after physical exercise does not negatively affect healthiii and could provide multiple benefitsiv, so athletes could include a moderate consumption of this fermented drink in their diet (200 ml of beer in the case of women and 400 ml in healthy adult men).
