Beef exports increased in August led by Chinese demand

In August, beef sales reached a total of 58,273 million tons, which represented an increase of 23.8% compared to July and 5.1% compared to the same month in 2023, as reported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Meat Trade (Ciccra).

The growth in beef exports between July and August was largely due to an increase in shipments to China, which accounted for 91.9% of the total exported. In terms of volume, shipments to the Asian giant reached 38,966 tons, showing an increase of 35.9% in one month.

Other important markets for Argentine meat in August were the Netherlands, with 1,773 tons, which meant an increase of 53.6% compared to July, and Italy, which received 886 tons, with an increase of 74%. Chile, for its part, received 2,572 tons, marking an increase of 13%.

In contrast, exports to Israel, the United States and Brazil showed a decrease compared to the previous month, with a drop of 2.7%, 9.8% and 17.7% respectively.

The average export beef price was $4,645 per ton, which represented a monthly decrease of 6.5%, reflecting an increase in global supply.
