Although Sergio Aguero’s relationship with former manager Pep Guardiola was not in the best shape when the Argentine was a player, he appreciates some of the important decisions the Spanish manager has made towards him.
Aguero spoke of Guardiola’s exclusion from some competitions due to his weight gain, and the Argentine made it clear that his coach was right at the time of making these decisions, as Pep established a strict system that tramples on everyone.
In this regard, Sergio told El Chiringuito: “If your ideal weight is 79-80 kg and your weight is 80 kg and 100 grams, you will be fined and you will not play”.
He continued: “In season one we were between season four and three, and he said I left you because you got fat this week. And what was I supposed to say? He was right, these things happen.”
Aguero also touched on changing his style of play after the arrival of Guardiola, where he talked about his use of the high pressure method, and concluded: “When I arrived Guardiola asked me to press a lot on the central defender, and then I I didn’t have oxygen to attack, I wasn’t used to pressure but Pep taught me how to do it “.
