After his criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo’s escape from the stadium, coach Erik ten Hag of Premier League club Manchester United publicly defended the superstar.
“Now I have to emphasize something,” said the Dutchman, adding: “There were a lot of players who left. But the focus is on Cristiano, that’s not right.”
Like other professionals, Ronaldo (37), who is willing to change, left the stadium early in Sunday’s friendly against Rayo Vallecano after being substituted in the second half. “That’s unacceptable. For everyone,” ten Hag (52) had criticized afterwards.
