Because four matches take place on Sunday on the 26th Bundesliga matchday, the DAZN streaming service is showing a conference for the first time. There is no Friday game for this.
DAZN and Sky have shared the broadcasting rights since the start of the 2021/2022 Bundesliga season. Streaming service DAZN shows all Bundesliga games on Friday and Sunday. Pay-TV broadcaster Sky stays on board on Saturdays and shows all games at 3:30 p.m., the conference and the top game at 6:30 p.m.
But now there is a premiere on the 26th matchday. On March 13, 2022, DAZN will show the parallel games between Borussia Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld and Eintracht Frankfurt against VfL Bochum (each kick-off at 5:30 p.m.) in a conference. Both games will also be shown as individual games.
A Bundesliga conference at DAZN has not existed before. The reason for the novelty: Due to the Europa League games on Thursday, the German Football League (DFL) canceled four Sunday games. In addition, the derby between Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln (3.30 p.m.) and the Greuther Fürth game against RB Leipzig (7.30 p.m.) will also take place this Sunday.
Matchday 26: Bayer Leverkusen against 1. FC Köln at the start on Sunday
There will be no Friday game that would otherwise have been broadcast by DAZN on this match day. When the dates were planned, four of the eight teams involved were represented in the European Cup competition: BVB, Leipzig, Frankfurt and Leverkusen. It can still happen that Dortmund (after 2:4 against Glasgow) and Leipzig (after 2:2 against San Sebastian) are eliminated early this week after their second leg.
But even if one or both teams do not make it into the round of 16, DAZN will offer a conference broadcast from the Bundesliga for the first time on March 13th. The rest of this 26th matchday can be seen on Sky as usual the day before. (msw)
