“Despite winning over Myanmar, Indonesia will not advance to the semifinals if Vietnam and Thailand draw with goals, for example 1-1, 2-2 and so on,” said Bandung to ANTARA, Saturday (9/7/2022).

Bandung explained, if the Indonesian U-19 national team wins, while Vietnam and Thailand draw, then the three teams have the same points, namely 11.

Thus, to determine the rankings, a small standings consisting of the three teams were made.

If Vietnam and Thailand are equally strong without a goal, then Indonesia (+11) and Vietnam (+9) are entitled to the top four because the assessment is shifted to the highest goal difference in Group A. The goal difference is taken as a reference because Thailand (+6), Vietnam and Indonesia have faced each other with the results 0-0 each.

However, for example, Vietnam and Thailand drew with a goal, the two teams who ensured a slot in the semifinals because Indonesia only drew 0-0 against them.

However, if Vietnam and Thailand beat each other, then Indonesia conquers Myanmar, then coach Shin Tae-yong’s team will go straight to the semifinals with Vietnam or Thailand.

“Indonesia seals a place in the semifinals if it wins regardless of the score over Myanmar and, at the same time, Thailand or Vietnam beat each other,” said Bandung.

Then, PSSI confirmed that the U-19 Indonesian National Team match against Myanmar at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, would be held simultaneously with the Thailand versus Vietnam match at the Bung Karno Intermediate Stadium, Jakarta, on Sunday 10 July 2022 starting at 20.00 WIB.

The U-19 Indonesian National Team is currently in third place in the AFF U-19 2022 Group A standings with a collection of eight points from four matches (+11 goal difference). Vietnam is the leader of Group A with 10 points from four matches (+9) and Thailand is in second place with the same points and number of matches as Vietnam but lost on goal difference (+6).
