The events industry has been particularly hard hit by the Corona crisis. The “Red Alert” alliance therefore called for a demonstration in Lübeck on Saturday.
A good 120 demonstrators came to the Hanseatic city on Saturday to draw attention to the situation and the need. With a thumping bass, a 500-meter-long protest convoy passed through downtown Lübeck. Stand builders, DJs, artists, technicians and caterers demonstrated on foot, but also with trucks and vans. In front of the convoy: a coffin marked “Event Industry”.

-Protesters are demanding more support
Because almost all major events had to be canceled due to the corona this year, the culture and events industry simply lacks the money, emphasizes demo initiator Dirk Wöhler. In order to survive, the demonstrators are demanding more political support. The state aid would not reach many, so Wöhler. “We have been in lockdown for nine months and we have to go out again to show that the November aid has not yet arrived,” he explains. A number of self-employed solo workers from the event industry would have changed jobs out of necessity. And countless companies are threatened with bankruptcy if politicians do not act quickly.
