Because of Avanza & Xpander, Car Sales Lost Seriously

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Car sales during October 2021 experienced a decline. Sale wholesales or from manufacturers to dealers last month only 75,544 units, down from September which reached 84,121 units, or down 10%.

The decline was most pronounced for Toyota, from which initially sold 34,046 units in September, but only sold 21,730 units last month.

Another Astra Group, Daihatsu, also experienced a correction, from 17,529 units in September to 17,020 units last month.

While non-Astra groups generally experienced an increase in sales, Mitsubishi, which was in third position, sold 9,196 units in sales, up from 8,233 units in the previous month.

Then Suzuki also experienced positive results after rising from 7,515 units to 7,624 units. The manufacturer that experienced a drastic increase was Honda, from 3,453 units in September to 5,681 units in October 2021.

During 2021, Toyota still dominates sales by controlling a market share of 32.7% 229,611 units, followed by Daihatsu with a market share of 18.9% or 133,068 units. Next, Mitsubishi is in third place, which controls 12.3% of the market or 86,727 units.

During the 10 months of 2021 running, car sales in Indonesia reached 703,089 units. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries believes that this year’s sales target can be achieved, even exceeded.

“We hope it can be more than what we predicted. Hopefully this year 800 thousand is achieved, it could be 850 thousand, next year it will be 900 thousand, if possible it will soon be 1 million units,” said General Secretary of Gaikindo Kukuh Kumara to CNBC Indonesia.

In October 2021, there was already a lot of certainty about the news of the launch of new models such as the All New Avanza and Xenia, besides that there was also the New Xpander. This news makes potential consumers hold off on purchasing or ordering vehicles because they are waiting for a new model.
