Reported by AFP and CNN, Sunday (13/2/2022) Mona Heidari is married to Sajjad Heidari, who is still his cousin. Mona’s marriage age is younger than the age limit for marriage set by the Iranian government.
According to the law, the minimum age for marriage in Iran is 13 years for girls. While the male is 15 years.
In an interview, Mona Heidari’s father also explained about his son’s age at marriage. He claimed to have had an official certificate to allow his son to marry. Meanwhile, Sajjad’s age at the time of his marriage to Mona has yet to be confirmed.
Married at a young age and with his own cousin did not make his life happy. Mona Heidari often experiences domestic violence (KDRT). Even so, Mona, who is now 17 years old, survived until the end of her life for the sake of her 3 year old son.
Mona Heidari Killed-Beheaded-Paraded
After years of experiencing domestic violence, Mona decided to flee to Turkey. He went to Turkey for 4 months but was persuaded by his biological father to return to Iran.
From here, bad luck befell Mona. Mona was even killed by Sajjad and his brother.
Mona’s hands were tied and her head was beheaded. Even Mona’s body was thrown away before Sajjad paraded his wife’s head through the streets of Ahvaz. In the video footage that went viral, Sajjad even seemed to smile carrying Mona’s head in one hand. While the other hand carries a knife.
According to the Fars news agency, Sajjad’s mother admitted that her son had threatened to kill his wife and claimed to be responsible for the murder.
As a result of the actions of Sajjad and his brother, they have now been arrested. But it is not clear what punishment they will face.

The video of Sajjad’s behavior on the Rokna news website has also been closed by the Iranian government. The video was deemed ‘psychologically disturbing to society’.
