Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) Toll Road Sections 2A and 2A Ujung Jakasampurna-Marga Jaya with a length of 4.88 km will be opened for trial on Friday (24/3/2023). With the opening of the toll road section, the entire Becakayu Toll Road will soon be fully operational.
PT Waskita Toll Road (WTR) subsidiary, PT Kresna Kusuma Dyandra Marga (KKDM), as the operator targets this toll road to be trialled on March 24 2023. During the trial period, road users will be charged the old tariff of IDR 14,000 for Class I ( types of vehicles (cars, sedans, buses, pick-ups and small trucks).
This trial is part of a series of socialization of tariff adjustments for the Becakayu Toll Road, which was originally an open system with one tariff (single tariff), to an open system with 4 tariff zones.
Fully Operates April 2023 with 4 Tariff Zones
After this socialization and trial, KKDM targets that the 16.78 km Becakayu Toll Road will be fully operational in April 2023. In line with that, a new tariff implementation scheme will be implemented, namely an open system with 4 tariff zones.
When the Becakayu Toll Road is fully operational, toll road users from Bekasi who enter through the Marga Jaya 2 Toll Gate (GT) and leave via the Pondok Kelapa, Jatiwaringin, Cipinang Toll Road exits and Jalan DI Panjaitan will be charged Zone 4 rates.
Meanwhile, Zone 3 rates will apply to road users who enter through the Jakasampurna Toll Road and leave at the Toll exit.
Then, for road users from the direction of Bekasi who enter via GT Pondok Kelapa 2 and GT Jatiwaringin 2 heading to Jakarta, they will be charged Zone 2 and 1 tariffs, respectively.
Meanwhile, toll road users from the direction of Jakarta who exit at GT Jatiwaringin 1, GT Pondok Kelapa 1, GT Bintara Jaya, and GT Marga Jaya 1 will be charged Zone 1, 2, 3 and 4 rates respectively.
The change in the Becakayu Toll tariff zone is expected to balance the average journey length of toll road users with the toll tariff, so that road users will pay according to the 4 zones of origin and destination.
Director of Finance & Risk Management of WTR, Edie Rizliyanto, explained that the operation of the Jakasampurna-Marga Jaya Section will have a positive impact on society, especially in unraveling traffic jams.
“The Becakayu Toll Road is an alternative for road users who want to avoid traffic congestion for road users from Jakarta to Bekasi and vice versa. Through the Becakayu Toll Road, road users can cut travel time which previously could reach 60 minutes, now it can be reached in a short period of time. 20-30 minutes,” Edie said in a written statement, quoted on Thursday (23/3/2023).
Meanwhile, Main Director of KKDM, Aris Mujiono added, his party had carried out a number of repair and maintenance activities as part of preparation for operation.
“In order to increase comfort and safety for road users, we are making a number of preparations including repairing road markings, repairing and cleaning concrete barriers and carrying out greening efforts around the Becakayu Toll Road,” said Aris.
