Artist Bebe Rexha (33), whose real name is Bleta Rexha, has openly shared the flip side of being in the limelight.
That’s why she quit
Recently, the 33-year-old visited “The Jennifer Hudson Show”, where she could talk about the ugly comments that have poured into her inbox after she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
– It will happen
– I went to the doctor last year, many women have it without knowing it, and they diagnosed me with PCOS, she explains in the programme, according to People.
Reunited after 40 years
When diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, the hormones in the body are out of balance, writes The pocket doctor.
This leads to the egg cells in the ovaries not maturing properly, but turning into cysts and ovulation not occurring.
PCOS can cause reduced fertility, obesity, increased hair growth and insulin resistance.
The artist estimates that she has gained around 15 kilos as a result of the illness. This has led to several rude remarks on social media.
– We are public figures, so it will happen. I was much thinner and I put on weight, that’s part of it. I’m not angry for that reason, because it’s true, but when you see things like that (unkind comments, editor’s note), it bothers you, she told the program.
Haven’t spoken in nine years
The “I’m Good” singer believes that one should refrain from commenting on other people’s bodies.
– You never know what people go through in life, so it’s tough. It’s 2023, we shouldn’t be commenting on other people’s weight.
– Struggling
Rexha has previously opened up about her health challenges on the program “Gayle King in the House”.
Against “wrong” stamp
– I definitely struggle with my weight and I struggle with how I look, it has been tough for me, she said there, according to People.
Bebe Rexha has had a number of songs on the charts, and is known for, among other things, “I’m Good (Blue)”, “In the Name of Love” and “Me, Myself and I”.
