Beauty and the Beast: Unveiling the Dark Side of Picasso’s Life and Art

50 years after the death of Pablo Picasso at the age of 91, the BBC, in a documentary entitled “Beauty and the Beast,” examined the dark side of the famous artist’s personality, to explain how he became a target for activists because of his “bad treatment of women.”

The film includes a series of interviews with the artist’s family, and explores Picasso’s troubling history with women.

Director John O’Rourke told The Express: “A lot of accusations surround the fact that when he was 45, he had an affair with a 17-year-old girl.”

The BBC said that its three-part documentary series “reveals the life and work of a man who was as much a monster as he was a genius.”

One of the most shocking stories is that of a 13-year-old girl named Raymond, whom he and his first love, Fernande Olivier, planned to adopt in 1907.

However, Olivier returned her to an orphanage when she discovered that Picasso was painting her “nude.”

“You can’t say he’s a monster or a genius, he’s just a man,” his daughter Paloma put it.

Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 in the city of Malaga in southern Spain to a middle-class family.

Pablo showed his passion and skill in drawing from an early age, and his mother used to say that one of the first words Pablo said meant “pencil.”

Among his most important works:

Three women in the spring. Girl in front of the mirror. Elderly guitar player. Tragedy.
