A church tower lonely sticking out of the water surface, a sad sight of elephants looking for food in a garbage dump, an unusual photo of wedding guests on a football field. These are the images that caught the attention of the judges of the Drone Photo Awards, which is one of the world’s most important photography competitions for drone pilots. In the photo gallery, we present a selection of award-winning shots.
Photographers from 107 countries of the world took part in the Drone Photo Awards competition this year. The jury selected both the absolute winner and the best works in nine categories (Cities and Architecture, Animals, Sports, Nature, People, Abstraction, Wedding Photography, Series and Video). The contest is part of the Visual Arts Festival in Siena, Italy, and the winning images will be exhibited at the Abbey of San Galgano from September 30 to November 19.
The absolute victory was won by the image of the Israeli photographer Or Adar, capturing the protests in Tel Aviv from a height. An overview of all awarded photos, from winners to honorable mentions, can be seen on the competition’s official website Drone Photo Awards.
The Siena Awards Festival, under which the competition for the best drone images belongs, is organized by Art Photo Travel in cooperation with the city of Siena and under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture.
