Yorick makes his father make history. Understandable, says Kees. Father Hessel says it all started with a call from the bank. He wonders if the charges on Yorick’s account are correct. Although the bank cannot go into details for privacy reasons, he claims that Yorick is involved in a scam.
It all starts when Yorick has contact with a girl from Groningen via Instagram. In bad Dutch she tries to seduce him with sexual imagery. In the chats we read that Yorick is very blue when it comes to sex on the Internet. “I just don’t know if I have the courage to do everything. It is the first time that I have done it, “he writes. Yet he does as he is asked.” At one point he was also naked, “says his father.
And then the trouble starts right away. “Not a minute later he gets a photo of his head with a photo opportunity of the video recording below that was sent to him. He was told, ‘You have to pay now, or I’m going to send these photos to your friends on Instagram.’ “For 3700 euros, ‘the girl’ would remove the photos.
Yorick doesn’t dare discuss it at home, but he doesn’t have that money either. He begins to negotiate. He transfers 100 euros, but that’s not enough. After another payment of another 100 euros, his bank blocks his account. Yorick is short of intelligence. Since his account is blocked, he must indirectly obtain the money from the blackmailer. “During that time, five friends of Yorick’s were being sent out that he is masturbating with a 12-year-old girl,” says the father. Yorick is absolutely devastated.
Eventually Yorick reports and goes to the doctor. This makes him very happy. But the police can do little. That’s why Kees is engaged. Kees and her IT specialist discover that she is not a gorgeous girl, but an African from the Ivory Coast.
Kees and Hessel go to the Ivory Coast. Kees’ team can find out where the scammer is via a link that the scammer clicks on from time to time. They see him walking around the largest city in the African country. They follow him for a while and decide to call the police. When the scammer is in an internet cafe, where he is still extorting Yorick at the moment, they chase him. The police, who are traveling in Kees’ van, grab him and load him into the van, where Kees and Hessel are waiting for him.
Kees and Hessel are angry and tell him what he did to Yorick. The African scammer is deeply impressed. Moments later they decide to face Yorick. He comes face to face with his blackmailer. “We got it!” Kees exclaims. “He wants to apologize. He will never do it again,” translates Kees the French-speaking scammer. Ivory Coast police open the scammer’s phone in the van. He shows that he has also made other victims.
Hessel is delighted that the Ivory Coast police are reacting so accurately and intervening immediately. Something the Dutch police can’t do because of “huge files”. Hessel was in contact with the Ivorian police even after the arrest. They asked him if he is satisfied with the agreement. The blackmailer confessed and 36 other criminals were arrested after the arrest.
