Beau van Erven Dorens has always consciously kept silent about the gossip about Marco Borsato in his program. He did, however, ask the singer for clarification in a private message, he reveals.
Marco Borsato is under fire for gossip about transgressive behavior among underage girls. Now that the singer has issued an extensive statement for the first time, Beau van Erven Dorens paid full attention to it yesterday in his talk show on RTL 4. He discussed the subject with Angela de Jong and Clarice Stenger.
Beau appt Marco
Beau has always consciously kept silent about the gossip in his program, he says. “I never talked about it in the program. I thought: if he comes up with it, we’ll talk about it. Preferably with him at the table or with Mr. Knoops, but he did not want to join us today.”
“I had expected and hoped – I’ve also sent that to him myself – of: just say ‘I have nothing to do with it, I don’t know what it’s about and I want all those people who have told me about this. accused in court, I will deal with all of them with slander and libel’. But he doesn’t say that. That makes it complicated.”
Mediakanon
Unlike Beau, Angela chose to name the gossip. He to her: “Of course you are a media gun. If you write something down, it will be picked up everywhere. Sometimes against will and thanks, but that piece you write about it… Have you had any doubts? From: Shall I do it or not?”
Sure, Angela agrees. However, according to her, it was no longer possible to avoid it. “If on Saturday evening in Even Tot Hier jokes are made in front of 2 million viewers about how unsafe it is to have a sleepover at Marco Borsato, then we can say that the fence is off the dam.”
Oil on the fire
Angela thinks Marco is acting unwisely. “What I love about it is that you wait and then come up with this statement. Then I think: this is so much more fuel for the fire. If it had said: ‘I did nothing and I can prove that I did not do it’, we would not have discussed it here at the table.”
Beau: “Don’t you think there is also a responsibility with the media for bringing all this up? Everyone seems to be working on it. John van den Heuvel, I heard. There are a lot of people who know about it.”
Snowball effect
The media also took their responsibility, says Angela. “But a new party has emerged in all of showbiz journalism and that’s those juice channels. They have no ties with those artists and it doesn’t matter if they are no longer allowed to attend their wedding or if there is a new record.”
“They get tipped, check it or don’t check it, and blow it out. As a result, nastier things about people are now coming out faster than they did before. This is then picked up by increasingly serious media. It may have started at Boulevard and then it was already on Radio 1 yesterday morning.”
Beau attracted 751,000 viewers to RTL 4 yesterday.
