beats Córdoba, forgets about the two defeats and returns to playoff positions

SD Huesca welcomed Córdoba to El Alcoraz in a key match to regain the good feelings of the start of the season. The Alto Aragon team returned to its stadium in the match that closed the day in the Hypermotion League. Facing them was Iván Ania’s team, who last weekend achieved their first victory of the season against Deportivo de la Coruña.

Antonio Hidalgo fielded a starting eleven made up of Dani Jiménez, Toni Abad, Jorge Pulido, Diego González, Vilarrasa, Javi Pérez, Sielva, Kortajarena, Gerard Valentín, Joaquín and Sergi Enrich. A 4-3-3 to try to dominate the Andalusian team and take advantage of the speed of Joaquín and Valentín. The match began without any chances and with both teams looking to keep possession.

Little happened in the first 10 minutes, but in the 11th minute, Gerard Valentín forced a clear penalty to put the Huesca team ahead. Óscar Sielva did not miss and put Hidalgo’s team ahead after beating Marín. After the goal, Córdoba tried to get more dangerously close to Dani Jiménez’s goal, but the Huesca team’s defence was very secure in each offensive action.

Gerard Valentín received his first yellow card of the match after a clear foul on Isma Ruiz. SD Huesca increased their lead with a goal from Joaquín Muñoz in the 29th minute after taking advantage of a rebound inside the area. With hardly any time to react, the Alto Aragon team made it 3-0 through Sergi Enrich to leave the match almost over in the first half hour of play. A spectacular start, with Hidalgo’s team being very effective in front of goal and not letting Córdoba get close to Dani Jiménez.

The referee also showed Sielva a yellow card for a foul in the centre of the pitch. In the 43rd minute, Mendes made it 3-1 on the scoreboard, after a poorly defended play by Hidalgo’s team. The match went into half-time with Huesca leading 3-1.

Córdoba began by besieging Dani Jiménez’s goal in the second half and the goalkeeper sent a shot from Isaac out for a corner. Iván Ania brought Obolskii and Martínez onto the pitch, looking for his team’s reaction. Carracedo put in good crosses from the right flank, but the Andalusian team’s attackers were unable to hit the target.

Hidalgo brought Soko and Javi Mier onto the pitch for Javi Pérez and Joaquín, looking for the speed of the Cameroonian. The blaugrana squad held off Córdoba’s attempts to get closer on the scoreboard, clearing the danger from the green and whites time and again. The scare came in the 66th minute, when Genaro scored a great goal, but the referee ruled it out for clear offside.

With 18 minutes left in the game, Hidalgo brought on Unzueta and Jordi Martín for Kortajarena and Sergi Enrich. Jordi Martín sealed the match with the fourth goal in the 89th minute, after a great strike from outside the area. The referee showed Martínez a red card after stopping Soko. There was no time for more and Hidalgo’s team returned to the playoff positions after the best game of the season.

SD Huesca will travel to Miranda de Ebro this Saturday, in the match that will see them face Mirandés in Anduva in a new league match.
