Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller is already a National Researcher Level I of the SNI, reports Conacyt


The SNI was created by a presidential agreement published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on July 26, 1984. Its purpose is to recognize the work of people dedicated to producing scientific and technological knowledge.

Gutiérrez Müller has a master’s degree in Latin American Literature from the Universidad Iberoamericana de Puebla (UIA) and a doctorate in Literary Theory from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa.

He is also a member of the Research Group “Prevention of Violence. Educating for a culture of peace through social participation ”from BUAP.

Last January, Gutiérrez Müller clarified that since 2018 he was part of the level of Candidate for the SNI, for which he received a monthly stimulus of 10,000 pesos.

“And every three years we must be evaluated; If the researcher does not reach international standards, he loses the distinction and, therefore, that pecuniary income. In this issue of publishing research, I add: no professor that I know charges for articles in indexed (or quality) journals because it is understood that the institution to which he belongs pays him a salary. Neither do any of them that I know get paid to publish books in public or institutional publishers. They have given me five, ten copies as payment in kind. (Another note: as academic discrimination is a fact, only 32 percent of the members of the SNI are women; only 8,000 in the entire country) ”, she clarified on her Facebook account.

Just on December 11, Gutiérrez Müller received a definitive position as a researcher at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) with a salary of more than 16,822 pesos per month.

The academic also received the document that accredits her as a teacher. The delivery was made in an act where another 171 academics also received the document that accredits them as professors of said house of studies.

WHAT IS THE SNI?

In accordance with current regulations, the economic incentives granted to SNI researchers are the following:

–Candidate for National Researcher: three or four monthly minimum wages.
–National Researcher Level I: six or seven monthly minimum wages.
–National Researcher Level II: eight or nine monthly minimum wages.
–National Investigator Level III: fourteen or fifteen monthly minimum wages.
–National Investigator Emeritus: fourteen or fifteen monthly minimum wages.
