This 59-year-old woman ensures that her daily life is punctuated by the fear of meeting her stalker, who does not respect the decisions of a justice immobilized in the face of this situation.
It is the story of a hell that has lasted for several months. Since mid-2020, Béatrice, 59, has been contacted daily by a 33-year-old worker whom she had mandated to redo the bathroom in her home in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, in Val-de- Marl.
However, the thirty-something, who considers that his employer at the time is the woman of his life, will very quickly send several messages that go far beyond the professional framework. “The evening after the work, I received text messages where he said that he liked me, I let it go,” she recalls to BFMTV.
“One day, I got angry, he finished the work (…) he left and I blocked his number. During the holidays, I did not know that he was harassing me”, adds Beatrice.
Daily visits
Despite the clear message sent by Beatrice, the man continues his harassment, and goes so far as to go to the home of the latter.
“He started coming to my house and ringing at midnight. The first time he came with a bouquet of flowers, I opened it to him and asked him to stop. He comes back dressed in a suit with a bouquet of flowers. . It scared me. When I saw him in a suit, it scared me. I said to myself: ‘he’s sick!’ “, She recalls.
For a fortnight, the worker will continue this same merry-go-round, and will also go to Beatrice’s workplace. “In December he came to my place of work, I was on vacation. In January, still at work, he climbs through the roof, he asks to ask me, to see me, he was like crazy (… ) there I call the police. They took him away, ”she says.
In April 2021, the worker was sentenced to 14 months in prison with a probationary period of six months, as well as a ban on contacting Béatrice and going to her home or place of work.
Judicial chain blocked
Again, the decision did not have the desired effect. “He does not care about this court decision! He does not respect it. So he is able to go further … He is capable of what?”, Insists Béatrice, who lives alone with her 80-year-old mother In May 2021 , the man is again arrested for violation of the judicial control and the probationary stay. He is released.
In reality, if the thirty-something has indeed been sentenced by the courts, this sanction is currently not applicable. In question, a lack of means at the Registry of the Correctional Court of Créteil since the decision has still not been signed by the judge of application of sentences. A blockage of the judicial chain with extremely serious consequences for Beatrice’s daily life.
“We live with a feeling of fear. We should feel protected by the police, by justice. I do not know what is happening with this justice in France, but that does not follow what”, she criticizes.
“This man changed my daily life”
This untenable situation had many repercussions on Beatrice’s life. “I have trouble working. Concentrate. What I did in an hour, I do in three hours now,” says the one who refuses to move because of this case. “I do not want to lose everything because justice is not doing its job,” she adds.
“I’m afraid that he will meet me in the street, that he will take revenge. That he takes action (…) I no longer walk in the street alone. This man has changed my daily life, he instigated this fear that I have. This fear that something will happen to me one day, “she says.
To assert her rights and regain her former life, Béatrice announces that she will not give up and that she wishes “to fight, until the end.”
