This Monday evening, ten departments in the East and South-East were placed on heat wave orange vigilance by Météo-France and among these departments: the Rhône. For the occasion, Europe 1 went to the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage near Lyon, to meet families in search of freshness.

No less than ten departments on heatwave alert this Monday evening, including the Rhône. For the people of Lyon, the best solution to beat the heat is to go for a walk at the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage in Vaulx-en-Velin. For the occasion, Europe 1 went there to meet families in search of freshness.

“It’s still hot”

Many Lyonnais had the same idea: come to this park fifteen kilometers from the center of Lyon to swim in the artificial lake in the middle. These are not the beaches of the Mediterranean, but, given the 36 degrees displayed on the thermometer, no one has found better to cool off. Starting with Jacqueline who is taking her grandchildren aged five and two. “I said to myself ‘come on, let’s go in the water’, otherwise they won’t go out. I’m in an apartment and it’s very hot. They have a little swimsuit, quietly. It’s going to be fine” , she rejoices at the microphone of Europe 1.

Khatib came after work with his three daughters. “We enjoyed a little with the children, we played a little, we laughed and we enjoyed it a lot more in the water because outside, it’s still hot”, underlines t- -he. Here, the beach is pebbly, but the water is cool and that’s exactly what Sylvain is looking for when he’s busy.

“I’m inflating the paddle. I picked up the little one in the airy center and then I had the paddle in the bag. We’re going to take a little ride on the quiet lake”, impatiently the father of the family . This park has a lot of trees and therefore a lot of shade. A blessing in these days of heat wave in Lyon. Moreover, this Tuesday should be the hottest day with a mercury which should exceed 38 degrees.
