After the first eight weeks of this season, one would of course have expected that the New York Giants would receive a top-5 draft pick at the end of this season. This is because halfway through their regular season games they could only fight for one win (1-7). However, on Sunday they proved that they are now in a completely different situation. With the replacement quarterback Colt McCoy, who had to be used as a starter after a hamstring injury by Daniel Jones, they were even able to win against the incredibly in shape Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks were 8-3 before the game, leading the NFC West. The New York Giants are 5-7 after their fourth win in a row and remain at the top of the NFC East.
New York Giants Defense convinced against strong Seattle Seahawks offense
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who was once in the MVP race, had absolutely no chance against the New York Giants defensive. Patrick Graham did a great job here, as his team only allowed twelve points against this extremely strong offensive.
Colt McCoy couldn’t really convince with just thirteen completions, a touchdown and an interception, but he led the New York Giants offensive well enough to keep their winning streak alive. Running back Wayne Gallman played the biggest role in this victory, as he carried the Giants offensive with 135 rushing yards, so to speak.
It remains to be seen whether this game says more about the Giants ‘transformation into a potential playoff team or the Seattle Seahawks’ ineptitude. Still, it has to be said that things are already looking good for the New York Giants. They are currently the clear favorite for the winner of the NFC East. With a win lead, the Giants now have some difficult games ahead of them. You will meet the Cardinals, the Browns, the Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys. These games will be extremely difficult, but even another win in NFC East (against the Dallas Cowboys) could potentially secure them a spot in this year’s NFL playoffs.
