Before the trip, Simon indicated in the app that he would pay for it with a bank card, ie the amount would be automatically deducted from the man’s bank account. He also indicated this to the taxi driver when he got in the vehicle.

When the trip was over, Simon got out of the car and went home, but the driver followed him and demanded a fee for the trip.

“I still thought on the phone that I would pay with a card. I got off the taxi and started walking in the direction of the apartment. The taxi driver got out of the car and followed me,” Simon said.

“He stopped in front of the door. I asked what he was doing. He tried to pull out my laptop bag, then pushed me to the ground. He asked me to give him money. I had his leg on my neck.”

A man’s girlfriend came out of the apartment and offered to pay to resolve the conflict. The driver had replied that he did not need the money and attacked again, Simon said in the program. The taxi driver then called the police and said that a customer had attacked him.

The police crew settled the conflict and forced the parties to go home. Simon and his girlfriend went to the station the next day to write a report about what had happened.

The amount due to the man’s attack is relatively small – 2.70 euros. It also seemed incredible to law enforcement at first that such a conflict could arise because of it, Simon said.

“Police said they would report within ten days if a criminal case would be filed here. It’s been three weeks, but I haven’t received any news,” the man said.

Representatives of the company involved did not want to comment on the situation in front of the “Bez Tabu” camera, but provided an answer in the form of an audio message.

“As for the specific situation, due to the protection of the data of the persons involved, we cannot disclose most of the details,” the head of relations of cooperation partners of “Yandex.taxi” in Latvia revealed to the program.

He said the app automatically switched the payment method from credit card to cash, for which “both the driver and the customer received a clear message in the application”. This situation is possible, for example, if there are not enough funds on the bank card.

“We also reported the incident to a business partner whose fleet manager works. He was suspended from receiving orders from the service and can no longer fulfill orders,” revealed the company.

“It should be mentioned that the driver’s version of what happened is different, but we are not the responsible authority and cannot reach a verdict.”

The show on the social network “Facebook” contacted a person whose name coincides with Simon’s taxi driver. He denied being involved in the case.

“If you are looking for a taxi driver who has started aggressively shouting or harassing a customer, you will have confused the person. The name and the name match, but I have not worked in that field in my life,” the addressee told the show.

The State Police (VP) “Bez Tabu” pointed out that administrative proceedings had been initiated, in the framework of which a forensic medical examination had been appointed, explanations had been accepted from the persons involved, revealed Artis Kokorevičs, Deputy Head of the Order’s Northern Police Department.

“A person’s medical documentation has been requested, it will be sent to forensic experts. After receiving the experts’ opinions, further investigative actions will be decided,” Kokorevich revealed.
