Beata Szydło wrote on the X website that her opponents in Law and Justice should speak openly about wanting to remove her from the position of party vice president. As it turns out, the final decision in this matter has not yet been made.
Beata Szydło’s latest social media post is not just the result of local disputes. It is a description of the situation in Jarosław Kaczyński’s party through the eyes of the former prime minister and still vice-president of PiS.
– In every party, there are different groups. They have their own ambitions, they have their own interests – emphasizes Anna Gembicka, MP of Law and Justice. – Sometimes emotions run high in such matters, maybe they are unnecessarily expressed – assesses Michał Moskal, MP of Law and Justice. – I believe that if emotions accompany the discussion within the party, it is better to conduct such talks privately – comments Michał Dworczyk, MEP of Law and Justice.

The aftermath of the dispute over the Marshal of the Małopolska Voivodeship
Beata Szydło’s post is a reaction to unofficial information that she is to lose her position as party vice-president at the PiS congress in September. The reason? On the one hand, there are supposed to be arguments that a generational change is needed in the PiS authorities, and on the other – that there are too many MEPs among the vice-presidents, and work in the European Parliament takes up their time.
Moreover, the deletion of Beata Szydło’s name from the party authorities would be another consequence of the events in the Małopolska PiS – this concerns the crisis related to the election of the voivodeship marshal, for which Jarosław Kaczyński is supposed to blame the former prime minister.
According to our information, the final decision on this matter has not been made yet. – I hope that there will be a conversation with the gentlemen she writes about and that it will be explained, because it is definitely not necessary, we have things to do – says Anna Gembicka. – I think that if Prime Minister Szydło still had any contact with Chairman Kaczyński, she could simply articulate it to him, but it is clear that there is no contact, she is not accepted in the party leadership, she is not accepted by decision-makers – points out Miłosz Motyka, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment from the Polish People’s Party.

Dispute over presidential candidate
In the background of these disputes between the leaders, in the background of the increasingly fierce clashes of various factions within PiS, there is a race going on not only for leadership of the party after Jarosław Kaczyński, but above all for who will be the presidential candidate next year.
Jarosław Kaczyński expressed his conviction at the last press conference that if his party were to govern, Mariusz Błaszczak would be the president. At the same time, however, he indicated that there are other potential candidates whose support among voters the party is testing in various internal polls.

In unofficial conversations, PiS politicians admit that the closer to the congress in September, the more public conflicts and mutual accusations there may be, because that is when key decisions regarding changes in the PiS leadership are to be made, which will affect the balance of power in the party for years to come.
