Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto ensured that they reached the final of the Malaysia Masters 2022. Both qualified after beating Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik 21-14, 19-21, 21-10.
The semifinals of the Malaysia Masters 2022 will be held at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Saturday (9/7). In the men’s doubles, there is a duel for the Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto vs the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.
The first game started, a tight score immediately presented 4-4. Both pairs immediately played with a fast tempo. Fajar/Rian then lead 6-4. The pressure from them often failed to be returned by the Malaysian couple. Aaron/Soh slowly won the drive fight. They’re approaching 7-9. A lucky ball from Rian and an attack from Fajar made them close the first game interval with an 11-7 advantage.

After the break, Fajar/Rian became more comfortable dominating Aaron/Soh. Point after point was won, which led to a 21-14 victory.
The second game started, the Malaysian pair turned fast. Aaron/Soh’s straightforward game took him ahead of Fajar/Rian. Meanwhile, the Indonesian pair could only get points from their opponent’s mistakes. The first interval can be won by the host doubles with a score of 11-5.
After the break, the game was tight. Fajar/Rian can compete with Aaron/Soh in gaining points. The score was quite thin, namely 14-16. Until then, Fajri could press until the score was 19-20, but finally had to give up 19-21. The third game must be played.
In the third game, Fajar/Rian immediately started to gain points. Both forced the Malaysian pair to make many mistakes in Indonesia’s favor. Fajar/Rian can take a quick lead, and take the interval 11-2.
After the interval, Fajar/Rian couldn’t stop chasing points. A 21-10 victory was then achieved, which secured a ticket to the final of the Malaysia Masters 2022.
Fajar/Rian’s victory made Indonesia secure one title from the Malaysia Masters 2022. Because in the men’s doubles final, both of them will face fellow Indonesians, namely the senior pair Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan.
Indonesia can also get to the final from the other two numbers. Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo from the men’s singles, and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari from the mixed doubles were also able to reach the top round.
