With the Stay Kooook hotel concept launched in Bern in 2020, the Valais hospitality manager set a milestone in the innovative and promising extended stay segment.
What I like best about my job: That I can work in an emotional industry with innovative products and a wide variety of people who give their best every day so that our guests can reach their full potential.
My three most important job skills: Being able to listen, think ahead and strategically, give confidence and trust.
I am good at this: At least not that bad: the job skills … and keep calm
My motivational elixir: To be able to move something, to be able to change something, and my family, from which I draw strength
Beat Kuhn, Managing Director SV Hotel
As a pioneer of the extended stay segment, Beat Kuhn (1966) launched Europe’s first “Residence Inn” in Munich in 2011. In 2020, SV Hotel was able to launch the first self-developed, groundbreaking hotel concept Stay Kooook under his leadership. At the Hospitality Summit 2021, the native of Valais received the “Special Award” for his services in introducing a new hotel concept.
This person inspires me: Entrepreneurs who get up after a defeat and dare something new
My best holiday experience: USA trip with the whole family
I would like to live here: I already live in a dream place in the Swiss mountains. I consider it a privilege to be able to live in a country as beautiful as Switzerland.
What I like most about myself: Authenticity – being myself. «Walk the talk» – I try to keep what I promise.
My worst quirk: Mobile devices – the battery must always be full.
My motto: You always meet twice.
My idea of happiness: Leading a self-determined life means having a meaningful task in which I can fully develop and make a difference, and to have people around me who I can develop and who give me energy.
That makes me angry: injustice and human suffering
That makes me laugh: Happy positive people
I dream of: From a “Stay Kooook” in New York
I can’t do without: “Quality time” with my family
Then I become weak: At sunset in the Valais mountains
I can’t stand this sound: Anything excessively loud
My latest discovery: Ocean motor boating
My biggest faux pas: I’m thinking more of missed opportunities. For example, we could have developed «Stay Kooook» earlier.
My favorite swear word: Wettigehüorogöich
I will never forget that: The birth of my sons
I always have in the fridge: A piece of Valais dried meat
I could never eat this: I belong to the generation “We eat whatever is on the table”. When traveling you have to be open to other cuisines.
My last good deed: I managed to be a coach and develop young talents.
