The “European Week of Sport” initiative launched by the European Commission in 2015 to inspire people across Europe to lead an active and healthy lifestyle will take place from 23 to 30 September 2022. At the initiative of the Association of Leisure and Sports Enterprises in the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ), commercial sports and leisure companies such as fitness studios, dance schools, personal trainers and many other providers can participate for the first time at the European Week of Sport in 2022 and offer a wide range of free trial courses, trial lessons, etc.
Austrian leisure and sports trading companies have always made a significant contribution to health prevention, the promotion of physical and mental well-being and the reduction of disease risk.
The trade association for leisure and sport companies in the Austrian Economic Chamber it represents the interests of 34 professional groups and around 20,000 companies. These contribute significantly to the direct and indirect added value of the tourism and leisure industry of approximately € 46.5 billion (14.8 per cent of GDP).
