Beach volleyball players De Groot and Boermans defeated the world champions in the eighth final

Beach volleyball players Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot have advanced to the finals. They won in straight sets against Czech world champions Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner: 21-18, 21-16

Boermans and De Groot are playing a super Olympic tournament. All three group matches were won without dropping a set.

Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler are the opponents in the quarter-finals. The German pair are third in the world rankings, while Boermans and De Groot are currently fourth.

Perusic and Schweiner are fifth in the world rankings. The Dutch pair had lost their last three matches against the Czechs.

But in Paris, Boermans and De Groot were too much. In the first set, the Dutch opened the decisive gap from 15-15.

The Czechs’ fighting machine started immediately in the second set, but Boermans and De Groot managed to turn an early two-point deficit into an 8-5 lead. With strong play they then stayed on the right side of the score.

Steven van der Velde and Matthew Immers will also be involved today in the eighth final. They will compete against the Brazilian duo Evandro and Arthur at 9 pm.
