Beach rugby, on the field in the name of prevention

The Carpaccio Paestum beach, in the province of Salerno, hosts the final stage of the Italian Beach Rugby Trophy 2024: tomorrow at the Arena Beach with the second edition of the Vittoria for Women Tour, a traveling trip organized by Vittoria Assicurazioni in collaboration with the Specchio dei Tempi Foundation and the Italian Rugby Federation to raise public awareness on the topic of prevention of female oncological diseases. The tournament has a slogan – “female prevention is our goal” – and can count on a traveling information and prevention center, the VittoriaBus (purchased with funds raised in the previous edition), which will be used as a medical room for a free breast examination. A new fundraiser will be promoted this year to support the purchase of one or more mobile ultrasound scanners to further expand the work on the national territory.

Fourteen teams competing. And ten thousand spectators

Furlan and Chillemi: «Rugby and prevention»

The testimonial of the project is Manuela Furlan, historic captain of the women’s national team, 89 times on the field with the blue jersey: «After the success of the previous edition, the goal this year was to improve even more: we succeeded by bringing a bit of fun to the beaches without ever forgetting prevention, which is the core of our tour. I thank Fir and Vittoria Assicurazioni». For Luciano Chillemi, head of institutional communication and customer care of the insurance company, «the Vittoria for Women Tour is an initiative in which we believe a lot because it represents a real and concrete action for women’s cancer prevention, of which we are extremely proud. Even today, prevention is an action that is too often underestimated, due to fear, lack of opportunity or even just laziness, but it can really make a difference in the life of a person and those around them. This is why for the second consecutive year we are proud to continue the commitment made and transmit this powerful message even during a beautiful and carefree day by the sea».
