Beabadoobee ‘very nervous’ but excited for Reading & Leeds 2024

Beabadoobee shared that she was “really nervous” but excited to play this year’s edition of the Reading & Leeds festival.

Talk to ZikNation In a new interview about her new album ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’, her collaboration with Rick Rubin and her opening for Taylor Swift on her ‘Eras’ tour, the ‘Take A Bite’ singer opened up about her upcoming performances at both festivals next week (August 22-25).

Beabadoobee – real name Beatrice Kristi Laus – will headline the Radio 1 stage at the festivals. “I’m very nervous,” she said. “Inevitably we’re going to bump into someone. I’m afraid no one’s going to look at me!”

Although she admitted she was nervous about performing on stage, the singer added: “It’s going to be amazing; I can’t wait to perform in front of everyone.”

The “Talk” singer last played festivals in 2022, when she headlined the Republic Festival stage. Speaking about her performance, Laus said: ZikNation:”I had a great time when they played there last time. We finished with ‘Cologne,’ and I looked at the audience and thought, ‘Well, this is probably the biggest audience we’ve ever played to.’

“It was a really crazy moment for me. I try to think of funny stories, but I never really bothered myself at Reading! I was pretty well behaved. 16-year-olds do that for me. It’s hilarious: watching everyone.”

In a four-star review of his latest LP, ZikNation shared: “Throughout This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Bea reflects on her own experiences of womanhood and the complex landscape you face during those early years of adulthood.

“It’s a time in life when you look at situations with new clarity – something she does when she reflects on her own role in past situations and takes responsibility for them. As she explains: “It’s accepting that there’s also an inevitable part of my fault.” It’s looking at her life through a slightly different lens, as if she’s putting on a different pair of glasses and discovering that the world is both familiar and suddenly a little sharper, a little clearer.”

Laus will headline Radio 1’s stage in Leeds on Friday (August 23) and Reading on Sunday (August 25). You can find remaining tickets here for Reading and here for Leeds.

Other bands performing at the festivals include Fontaines DC, Reneé Rapp, Pendulum, Kenny Beats, Beabadoobee, Kenya Grace, Nia Archives, Two Door Cinema Club, Neck Deep, The Wombats, Ashnikko, Rachel Cinouriri and The Last Dinner Party.

Earlier this year, the 2024 headliners were announced and include Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Rey, Blink-182, Fred Again.., Gerry Cinnamon and Catfish & The Bottlemen.

21 Savage, Jorja Smith (exclusively at a UK festival) and The Prodigy were also announced as additions to the lineup in November.
