New Delhi. Expressing concern over incidents of violence against all medical staff, including doctors, in central government hospitals in the national capital, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday issued an advisory to regarding a safe working environment.
The advisory issued by the Central Government said, “Recently it has been observed that violence against medical staff has become very common in government hospitals. Many health workers experience physical violence at some point in their careers. “Many others are threatened or facing some form of attack.”
He also said, “Central government hospitals are advised to keep a record of all these incidents. “Such an incident should be brought to the immediate attention of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through the Director General of Health Services.”
The advisory from the ministry comes amid protests across the country by doctors demanding justice for the female undergraduate doctor (PGT) who was raped and brutally murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College Hospital , West Bengal last week. The protesting doctors also want the suspension of the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and the immediate formation of a committee to draft a Central Protection Act (CPA) for healthcare professionals.
