Suara.com – Weird bug discovered a few weeks ago by infosec researcher Carl Schou, can disable connectivity WiFi iPhone and all related features.
Apparently, this matter wasn’t quite there since Carl Schou had discovered security hole another, but this time it was much worse.
The previous bug, which involved trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network named “%p%s%s%s%s%n”, could easily be solved by resetting the iPhone’s network configuration.
However, the latest vulnerability will be annoying if you are only around a WiFi network carrying the SSID name “%secretclub%power” and don’t need to try to connect to it.

Don’t think you can get rid of it just by resetting the phone’s network configuration to factory defaults.
Apparently, it can only be solved by factory resetting the iPhone, which is a much more complicated process and can lead to data loss that isn’t backed up.
However, according to the page Phonearena, Tuesday (6/7/2021), there is another way to fix the problem, where you have to manually edit iPhone backup.
You should also remove malicious entries from the known network .plist, but that can be well beyond the scope of the average user’s knowledge.
Both vulnerabilities exploit certain format string encoding flaws that make it easy for iOS to take on this simple but heavy-handed attack.

Although it’s rather easy to guard against the first bug by not trying to join a particular network.
This new vulnerability cannot be easily tackled as there is no way to find out which hotspots or strangely named WiFi networks are.
Hopefully, Apple will fix it in a future iOS update.
