TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Chairman of the Indonesian Gynecological Oncology Association (HOGI) Dr. dr. Brahmana Askandar, SpOG(K), K-Onk says, ovarian cancer is one of cancer which is known as silent killer for women because the disease does not show symptom anything in the early stages.
Only 20 percent of ovarian cancer detected at an early stage. In fact, if found early, 94 percent of patients can live more than 5 years after diagnosis.
“It is important for women in Indonesia to know the risk factors and symptom ovarian cancer,” he said in a webinar entitled “10 Fingers Campaign: Together We Can Face Ovarian Cancer”, Thursday (13/1/2022).
Not only that, patients who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer are advised to keep control of their condition by seeing a doctor regularly and finding the right therapy.
“The right therapy when dealing with cancer can make their quality of life better,” said Doctor Brahmin.

10 Fingers Campaign
The 10 Fingers campaign is one way to educate the public about the six risk factors and the four signs ovarian cancer.
The six risk factors are:
(1) have a history of endometrial cysts; (2) have a family history of ovarian cancer and/or cancer breast; (3) genetic mutations (eg BRCA);
(4) low parity;
(5) poor lifestyle;
(6) and increasing age.
While the four signs ovarian cancer is:
(1) bloating;
(2) decreased appetite;
(3) frequent urination;
(4) and pelvic or abdominal pain.
