BDZ announced that for the first time in years the holding company is making a profit. However, according to financiers, this is the result of a years-long lawsuit for BGN 21 million principal plus interest against FIB. As reported by “Banker”this means that it is about accounting tricks, not improving the economic condition of the carrier.
In addition, for the free transport of Ukrainian refugees in our country, BDZ received two tranches of subsidies of BGN 5 million from the budget, and at the beginning of July for another BGN 1 million, thus ending up with a temporary profit. Without the one-time “bonus” from FIB, the real financial result of BDZ for the first quarter would not have been a profit of BGN 1,180 million, but a loss of BGN 10,363 million, notes “Banker”.
On the initiative of the Minister of Transport, Nikolay Sabev, at the beginning of the year, negotiations began with France to send a high-level expert to our country to advise on reforms in the BDZ. At the beginning of July, France nominated an expert with many years of experience in French railways – one of the best in Europe.
